This independently owned 14th-Century hotel, with 11 bedrooms and a busy restaurant, has recently gone through a refurbishment, seeing it stylishly upgraded throughout. Manageress Joanna Worsley provides quality service while head chef Adrian Songhurst puts passion and pride into creating superb cuisine. He serves fresh dishes using as much fresh local produce as possible, with a philosophy of ‘simple food, perfectly cooked’.
The professional front-of-house team offer a warm welcome to all who enter, and you are made to feel at home as soon as you arrive. A simple traditional bar menu is offered during lunch, with a more extensive menu available in the evening, which incorporates some à la carte dishes alongside some favourites from the bar menu. The wine list caters for all tastes and pockets, and The Castle Inn boasts an impressive top shelf packed with brandies and malt whiskies, for those who are lucky enough not to be driving home.
The Castle Inn lends itself to all occasions: business meetings, informal lunches, romantic evenings, formal dining for special occasions (for up to 30 guests), or simply a cream tea in one of the cosy lounges. Whatever the reason for your visit, you cannot help but fall in love with this charming inn and its beautiful surroundings.
