Set in the idyllic country village of Hook, the Nook & Cranny has that warm, welcoming feel that you only find in an excellent family-run restaurant. Head chef Colin Wood has been here for 22 years along with his wife Pam, and they have established an excellent reputation.

Expect the delights of French fine dining, with a menu that changes according to the seasons and their produce. Both Colin and Pam believe in supporting local businesses and therefore many of their ingredients are fresh from nearby sources.

There are some outstanding signature dishes on the simple yet elegant menu; notably the twice-baked cheese soufflé, which is light and fluffy with subtle, delicate flavours. The mussels are plump and plentiful, served in a white wine vinegar and shallot cream sauce. The fillet steaks are legendary and finished with one of Colin’s well-constructed sauces, and fish-eaters will be more than pleased with choices such as delicate Dover sole or succulent sea bass. A wide variety of fresh vegetables make the perfect complement to your main course, and divine desserts are sure to tempt you to forget about the calories – the chocolate tart with its velvety-rich filling is simply delicious, and a perfect end to your meal.

With very reasonable prices, considering the high-quality cuisine on offer, ensure you book in advance to avoid disappointment – you wouldn’t want to miss out on the Nook & Cranny experience.
