This convivial, family-owned restaurant dates back to the 17th-Century and boasts spectacular views across Cardiff. We visited on a hot summer evening and enjoyed our food on the pretty terrace. I relished a refreshing starter of melon and pineapple drizzled with a sweet orange and coconut syrup, before moving on to a big bowl of pasta from the vegetarian menu made with a rich tomato, mushroom and pepper sauce. The dessert menu presented some tempting choices, but we eventually settled on the light and fluffy white chocolate cheesecake and the sweet and crunchy Eton Mess. Both looked stunning and were bursting with flavour. The Treherne Arms also caters for special dietary requirements, offering gluten-free, vegetarian and dairy-free alternatives on request. A hearty Sunday roast is served up every week and everything from the evening menu can be easily made into half-sized portions for children.
