The Whitebrook Restaurant with Rooms is a delightful Michelin-starred venue set in the heart of the stunning Wye Valley - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has been a gastronomic destination since the 1970s, and began its life as a drovers' inn in the early 18th century.
After training with Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, chef proprietor Chris Harrod went on to receive three AA rosettes at Colette's restaurant in Hertfordshire, and has since achieved AA recognition at The Whitebook, alongside a Michelin star and a prestigious five-star rating from Visit Wales. Paying homage to the local area, Chris incorporates into his dishes many foraged herbs from the valley, alongside ingredients sourced from local producers. An abundance of seasonal produce features on the menu, whilst overnight guests can tuck into breakfast delights that include bacon, sausage and black pudding from neighbouring Trealy Farm Charcuterie, and smoked haddock and kippers from the Black Mountain Smokery in Crickhowell. Evening diners will find delicious main courses such as local beets with vine blackberries, aromatic herbs and flowers, or Cornish turbot served with heritage carrots and buttermilk. Further locally sourced dishes include Huntsham farm suckling pig - an indulgent choice, served with pine nuts, violet artichoke, charred beans and orache.
The Whitebrook Restaurant also has eight individually decorated en-suite rooms, making it a wonderful place to experience all the peace and tranquillity the valley has to offer.
