Anatoni's

Anatoni's occupies a spot in the suburbs of Cardiff that offers convenient car parking spaces right outside the door. Their Italian decor strongly evokes the city of Naples, while welcoming smiles draw you in and familiar jazz and blues playing in the background gets your toes tapping.

There is ample fare on offer, including an array of scrumptious breakfasts, sandwiches, panini and jacket potatoes. As we mulled over the options, friendly locals came in, and each one was greeted with the kind of warm familiarity that contributes so largely to Anatoni's easy-going atmosphere.

We decided upon the Anatoni breakfast - a plate full of all the best parts of a fry-up - and a mozzarella, tomato and basil panini. The latter was full of oozing hot cheese; and a coating of sweet and flavoursome pesto rounded off this classic tricolore combo.

As we enjoyed the food, our attention was drawn to the back of the room and to the newly installed, handmade woodburning pizza oven. Its terracotta tiles brought further charm to the café, and promised to deliver more authentic Italian goodness to tempt guests both old and new
