30pm Designed and run by Welsh-and-Thai-speaking Tamsin Ramasut and her partner Steve Doobay, the Bangkok Cafés in Cardiff and Swansea provide high-quality, authentic Thai food in a relaxed and contemporary setting with friendly service.
The eating experience itself has been completely re-thought. Each main course has been designed to provide an individual, well-balanced meal in itself, which takes the hassle out of ordering. For example, the traditional green curry comes with rice and a side of crispy vegetable tempura, meaning there are no ‘hidden extras’ on the bill.
Divided into sections according to the type of cooking, the menu has a very good choice of stir fries, curries, grills and noodles, with vegetarians well catered for. Ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible and expertly blended with Thai herbs and spices by the Thai chefs. The latest additions to the menu are a range of desserts, exclusively made by a French pâtissier, and some new homemade ice creams. And the takeaway service means you can have a little taste of Bangkok in the comfort of your own home. If you are looking for a modern take on Thai cuisine, Bangkok Café is a definite must-try – just make sure you book ahead if you’re visiting over the weekend.
