The maxim of this restaurant is very simple: the owners, when they wanted to set up a restaurant, decided that it must be a venue that they themselves would go to with their family and friends. This they have achieved. HK House is a surprising find. Situated in the heart of the town, you are immediately transported by the interior, a fusion of modern metro with the essence of Chinese culture all illuminated by subtle lighting. The menu is varied, yet each dish executed to a high standard with an emphasis on fresh produce and simplicity. One can choose from a large variety of dishes from the ' la carte menu, or alternatively try their seasonal set dinners. The 'Spring' menu offers a selection of dishes including the very moreish starters of Bah Fah stuffed scallops, and main courses such as sizzling dover sole in Quei Fah Loung sauce. There is also a dynamic and varied vegetarian selection with good variety. The wine here is an obvious passion for the proprietor Chi Hui, resulting in a wine list that is surprisingly personal and filled with choices not normally found on most restaurants' lists. From the dynamic zestiness of Bernhart Ott's Gruner Veltliner, to the majestic Morgon from Marcal Lapierre, this is a cultured small list with an emphasis on finesse. Best of all they now operate a takeaway service for the wine. Being a family-run restaurant, children are very much welcome. HK House offers its customers an intimate dining experience through superb cuisine and exemplary service.
