The Encore has all the trappings of a traditional pub, but also boasts some modern flair – chic artwork on the walls, eye-catching furnishings and a menu that is anything but old-fashioned. The extensive menu has something for everyone, ranging from traditional favourites to dishes with a Mediterranean influence.
For starters we chose the scallops and a duck rillette served with rhubarb and ginger chutney and wholemeal toast – superbly presented, exquisite in taste and brought to us by friendly, enthusiastic staff. Based on this starter alone, it seemed the evening was going to be a great success. For my main course I eventually went with the linguine served with tiger prawns, crab, chorizo, chilli, tomatoes and white wine, while my partner opted for the honey gammon ham, accompanied by creamed potatoes and truffle sauce. To wash down our food we chose a bottle of merlot, which was rich and aromatic. For dessert we managed to squeeze in a warm chocolate brownie with ice cream, and a spiced apple and caramelised crumble with vanilla custard. Another fantastic accompaniment to our meal at The Encore was the overall buzzy atmosphere of enjoyment.
For those who have been looking for the unforgettable blend of good value and high quality, the search is over.
