Stylish and modern, having an understandably relaxing influence on its guests, the restaurant at Stanton Lakes is located just minutes from the M1, M69, A5 and Fosse Park. You can enjoy eating in the comfortable, elegant dining room, or, in the summer months, take full advantage of the great view and take your seat on the large decked patio area overlooking the water. The lunch and evening dining options are equally excellent, and the chef's creative dishes and regularly changing menus keep diners returning to the restaurant.
To start we chose the homemade leek and potato soup, crispy fishcakes and plump king prawns in a seafood sauce, all of which were delicious, whetting our appetites for the main course. There were so many great options that it made choosing pleasantly difficult - in the end, we chose a tasty tender lamb stew and grilled sea bass in a light prawn, lemon and scallion butter sauce. The comprehensive range of house wines and other drinks meant we were never short of refreshment.
Though the starters and mains were more than satisfying, we just could not resist trying one of the tempting desserts. I had the French apple tart with apple and cream custard, while my companion opted for the warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream.
This peaceful, rural venue has ample car parking, making the restaurant a popular choice for private functions - a variety of menus are offered at very reasonable prices, including a separate menu for children and a very popular Sunday lunch menu.
The warm greeting from the staff, combined with the friendly, efficient service, made dining at Stanton Lakes a very pleasant experience indeed, one that we would happily recommend.
