Following a complete renovation in 2011, The William Cecil lies within the magnificent Burghley Estate, the centrepiece of which is of course Burghley House, one of the foremost Treasure Houses of the United Kingdom. Indeed the hotel takes its influence from the grand state rooms at neighbouring Burghley House, including much of its furniture which has been created in Rajasthan. Add this to the beauty of the pretty limestone town of Stamford, just off the A1, and The William Cecil must be one of the best located hotels in the country.
In the restaurant you’ll find fresh, simple and seasonal food – uncomplicated but packed with flavour– lots of choice, great service and a fun atmosphere. No tail coats, starch or presumption, just very friendly. The talented team of chefs produce delicious, mouth-watering dishes influenced by local and seasonal ingredients from the best suppliers in the area, including venison from the Burghley Estate, Lincoln Beef, Banham Farm chicken and the best fresh shellfish from the East Coast. And of course pork from our own pigs reared just the other side of our car park – you can’t get much more local than that. To complement your meal, choose something special from the small yet perfectly-formed wine list.
