Spacious, welcoming and comfortable, this award-winning family-run hotel and restaurant caters for intimate dinners, large receptions and overnight guests looking for somewhere stylish to unwind. Relax in the garden, the conservatory or the elegant dining room, where you’ll discover a menu of beautifully presented good food. I went for the familiar and opted for a salmon and dill fishcake with homemade tartare sauce, then perfectly roasted rump of lamb, before finishing on a high with the most indulgent of chocolate fudge cakes, with vanilla ice cream, of course. My partner’s ballotine of confit rabbit brought about some very enthusiastic praise, before a succulent rib-eye steak rendered her speechless. Tart and simultaneously creamy raspberry crème brulée was her closing course – an empty plate proof enough of its deliciousness. You can opt for the fixed-price table d’hote or à la carte menu. Situated on the south side of Stamford, near the A1 and the A43, this is a gem you can easily discover.
