The Hampshire village of Nether Wallop is famous for being the place where Miss Marple was filmed. But it is no mystery where the best pub food is served around here. Two doors down from Miss Marple’s actual house is The Five Bells, a traditional village pub that welcomes locals and visitors alike to Nether Wallop.
This pub, which originally dates back to the 17th-Century, serves traditional British pub grub, with a roast every Sunday. The lighter lunchtime menu features a selection of baguettes and jacket potatoes with fillings such as coronation chicken, tuna mayonnaise and Brie. Omelettes served with salad are on offer, as are an assortment of basket meals and pub meals, like homemade lasagne with chips and salad, toad in the hole and cheese Ploughman’s.
Friday night is barbecue night, which runs right through summer and into winter. Expect a combination of sausages, burgers, chicken and steaks, with halloumi and kebabs barbecued on request. All the meat products are local, coming from the infamous Robinson’s butchers in Stockbridge.
