It’s hard to miss The Bold Forester at Sarisbury Green. With an abundance of award-winning hanging baskets decorating its exterior, it is clear this is a happy place in which to dine. Once inside, the positive impression continues – a delightful atmosphere fills this popular family-run pub, which has been in the same very experienced hands for almost ten years.

The menu is extremely diverse, with a wide range of fish dishes, sizzling skillets and an ever-changing specials selection. House specialities include Thai beef and noodles, fillet of beef forestiere, belly of pork and venison steak with a rich berry and red wine jus. Portions are large and prices very competitive but, even after a filling main course, you might find it hard to resist the delectable selection of desserts.

When we visited, a large party was enjoying a birthday, and I’ve already made plans to make The Forester my next celebration location. A large selection of beers, including four real ales, and an extensive wine list all help to enhance your meal. For summertime dining, there’s a large beer garden at the rear, a patio and a children’s play area. The efficiency and friendliness of the staff at any restaurant makes a real difference, and the service at The Bold Forester is the icing on an excellent traditional pub cake. With its great food and enjoyable atmosphere, I would definitely advise booking a table in advance.
