From the sea, from the meadow, from the farm and from the kitchen, Chon Chola Tandoori Restaurant in the waterside village of Warsash uses fine quality produce to create authentic Indian cuisine with a splash of something special.
A typical rainy night in Hampshire was all it took to persuade us that a bit of Eastern spice was necessary to brighten up our evening. Chon Chola’s unassuming entrance welcomes you into the decorative interior of calming browns and greens, grand dark wooden chairs and smart table settings. Once seated in our booth, great for romantic rendezvous or private gatherings, we surveyed the menu with interest.
The first course was a class act indeed. Mixed kebab and my favourite onion bhajis were a tasty and delicate start to the meal. All starters on the menu come in at a very reasonable £1.75 to £4.05 – as pleasant on the wallet as on the tongue. Intrigued by the ‘aphrodisiacs from the harem’ section of the menu, I ordered the Chon Chola special – chicken with minced meat, egg and tomato. The full flavours certainly spiced things up for a mere £7.15. Combined with a delicious aloo gobbi (£2.25), divine saffron rice and chapathi, our meal was declared
an unrivalled success.
Chon Chola also offers special thalis for two people (from £15.75) and the list of king prawn dishes is a long one indeed. Vegetarians need not fear, the ‘from the garden’ listings include cauliflower, potato and spinach concoctions and a whole host of others besides.
Chon Chola can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own sofa with a full takeaway menu available too. Not one to miss.
