Brighten even the gloomiest of days with a trip to the all-day Italian restaurant, Bella Italia. Here, they present a wealth of familiar Italian food to the whole family. True to their Italian roots, the restaurants in Warwickshire maintain an authentic Tuscan country kitchen feel with poster prints on the walls, tiled flooring, warm earthy hues and copper pots and pans framing the confidence-inspiring open kitchens. We settled down to an evening of laidback dining, Italian style. Looking around, it was easy to understand why Bella Italia has such a loyal following. A romantic meal for two can be enjoyed by candlelight in your own little corner of the restaurant, whilst groups of friends are attracted by the extensive list of Italian wines and relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere that promotes animated chatter and a lively meal. We began our culinary journey around Italy with the formaggio fritta, a delicious blend of mozzarella, fontina and Parmesan cheese in breadcrumbs, deep-fried until melted and then served with a sweet red onion marmellata. We then shared the piatto rustica and tucked into a selection of traditionally cured Italian meats, buffalo mozzarella, rustic tomatoes, roasted peppers and artichokes, served with ciabatta bread and green and black olives.

Main courses continue the traditional theme with a choice of exciting salads and paninis for lighter meals, and pizzas, pasta dishes, fish, chicken and steaks from the grill for something heartier. I opted for a dish inspired by the Calabria region of Southern Italy; half a roast chicken coated with a mix of sweet paprika, olive oil, roasted garlic, basil, oregano and a hint of chilli, served with a heap of fries. The pizza menu carries a selection of well-loved favourites, including the classic four seasons, all of which are cooked to crisp perfection. The dolci menu is not to be missed, so, if you have room, opt for the legendary Godfather, with its cacophony of chocolate fudge brownie and creamy goodness, or keep things continental with tiramisu.

Not one for leaving anybody out, Bella Italia is keen to cater for younger diners too, with the bambino menu. Children are introduced to the delicious delights of Italian cuisine with an inspired menu created especially for them. Just £4.50 will buy the under ten a main course, drink and dessert, all in thoughtfully produced portions. So, if you’re dropping in for a breakfast croissant, taking advantage of the menu espresso – £4.50 for an open sandwich or £7.95 for two courses – or indulging in a full evening banquet, you will be greeted by a heavy dose of genuine Italian ‘ospitalità’.
