Just three miles from Sherborne, the Kings Arms in Thornford has everything you expect from a friendly village pub - and more besides. A warm welcome awaits you from Andrew and Ann, who have brought the pub back from closure. Now refurbished, the comfortable bar is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed drink and a hearty meal; alternatively you can dine in the pleasant restaurant. If the weather is kind, you can watch the world go by from the outdoor seating area or beer garden. From the menu and specials board you can order traditional fare such as beer-battered cod, or more unusual dishes like homemade Thai massaman curry. The Sunday roasts are excellent, with a choice of meats and lovely crisp potatoes. Little ones are kept happy with colouring books whilst choosing from their own menu. Ann's meat and fish suppliers are from the local area, all eggs are laid by the pub's chickens and you will probably find that some of the vegetables and fruit are grown in the village - you can't get fresher than that. Complement your meal with a bottle of wine, or a perfectly kept real ale. The pub offers a range of entertainment; the team can also provide catering for your special event, whether it's in the pub, skittle alley or elsewhere, proving that Andrew and Ann really will go that extra mile to provide a great service.
