When two guys from Jedburgh came up with a business plan for a takeaway sandwich and baguette shop, they could little have known the success they were about to experience. Tommy Farrell and Brian Dodds, both in their 20s at the time, and with a little help from PSYBT (Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust), launched the very first Baguette 'n' Go in 2004. Since then, their empire has grown to include four shops - located in Jedburgh and Hawick with a further two in Galashiels - attracting a mixed clientele, from school children and passing shoppers, to those on a break from work.
This idea is simple - fresh bread is baked on the premises and crammed with an array of fresh fillings right in front of you. The focus is on tasty, healthy choices with bags of salad packed in on request. You can opt for a baguette, panini, sandwich, homemade soup, delicious traybake or baked potato overflowing with a tempting topping. Perhaps the most popular of all of their baguettes is the famous hot and tasty BLT - brimming with mouth-watering bacon, juicy tomatoes and crisp lettuce. There is something to suit everybody. From simple classic choices to the more exotic, there is bound to be a baguette here for you; and with the average price a meagre £3, a lunch at Baguette 'n' Go won't damage your wallet either. A selection of coffees, tea and cold drinks are available to complement.
It comes as no surprise to learn that this dynamic duo have won national awards for their efforts. So next time you fancy lunch on the move, you know where to go.
