Ristorante Piccolo Mondo - Glasgow

Both Ristorante Piccolo Mondo restaurants - one in Glasgow's buzzing city OG centre, the other in Renfrew - are a haven for gorgeous Mediterranean and Tuscan dishes. Owners Tony and Giuliana Pierotti originally hail from Barga in the hills of Tuscany, and have been working in the hospitality industry since moving to Scotland in 1962. Tony, Giuliana and their family have an aptitude for warm, efficient service and first-rate cuisine, and it is their passion for bringing a taste of the Mediterranean to Scotland that has made both eateries such a great success.
Ristorante Piccolo Mondo offers genuine value for money like no other. But don't let that fool you - the food is absolutely astonishing. You'll find all the menus replete with fresh produce - indeed, the bills of fare are often changed to keep in step with the seasons. The dazzling variety on offer made it difficult to choose, but finally I plumped for the duet of king prawns and scallops, which was simply gorgeous. Cooked in extra virgin olive oil, white wine, garlic, chilli pepper, broad beans, basil, spinach, cherry tomatoes, freshly ground white pepper and served with fine egg noodle pasta, the fish had the right amount of bounce and tasted exquisite. With fare like this on the menu, it comes as little surprise that both of these fabulous Mediterranean eateries keep diners coming back for more, time and again.
