It's hard not to be fascinated by Roastit Bubbly Jocks (RBJ) - this Partick-based restaurant could certainly turn heads and twist tongues with its name alone (to explain, a bubbly jock is auld Scottish for a turkey). However, it's when you're settled inside the warm inviting surroundings with a fabulous bill of fare in front of you that the real fascination begins.
The carefully crafted brunch, market, à la carte and small plate menus include a selection of dishes that Roastit's passionate team take great pleasure in serving, as they are in no doubt as to how well their creations show off the quality of the locally sourced ingredients. You could begin with a starter like the West Coast seafood chowder or Ramsay of Carluke's pork and chicken terrine with pickled red onion, and then enjoy mains like RBJ's signature dish of roasted haunch of Argyll venison with sweet potato Dauphinoise, braised red cabbage, celeriac purée and venison reduction, or the pan-seared sea bass with crushed Scottish potatoes and tangy sauce vierge. Both offer a fantastic combination of rich, well-balanced flavours and delicate textures. Of course, vegetarian friends aren't forgotten either, and RBJ always has a selection of interesting dishes that often meat eaters can't even resist. This is Scottish dining at its heart-warming best
