Set in the heart of Edinburgh’s historical old town, on the famous Royal Mile, is Wedgwood the Restaurant. It is home to one of Scotland’s most well-respected chefs, Paul Wedgwood, who runs the restaurant with his wife, Lisa. The restaurant has appeared in The Sunday Times’ Top 100 UK Restaurants list, and has also received the title of Restaurant of the Year (outside of London) at the Food and Travel Reader Awards.
The dining area is bright and stylish – the perfect setting in which to enjoy the outstanding menu and complementary wine. On arrival, diners often treat themselves to the restaurant’s ‘deciding time’, which consists of a glass of Champagne and canapés while they peruse the seasonally changing menu. Paul’s exceptionally innovative menus and high-quality ingredients never cease to amaze and delight, whether it is the lunch menu or the full à la carte.
Quality ingredients shine through in dishes such as Skye langoustine with crispy pig’s tails, green apple, golden raisin sauerkraut and aioli. For a hearty main enjoy venison with puréed squash, black pudding mash, creamed cabbage, venison haggis bonbons, and sour rhubarb and rosemary jus. For a final flourish, try the sticky toffee pudding with Caol Ila butterscotch and vanilla ice cream. At Wedgwood the Restaurant, you are guaranteed a very special culinary experience indeed.
