Situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, Roti is a dynamic restaurant specialising in Indian tapas dishes. The ethos behind the restaurant is to strip Indian cuisine back to its street-food roots, and to provide diners with an authentic experience of top-notch food.
The vibrant, contemporary interior makes for a stylish and comfortable environment in which to dine, and the friendly staff are on-hand to ensure your visit is enjoyable. Head chef Abdul Ghafoor holds over 20 years’ experience in the kitchen, and has created a menu that will please even the most discerning of diners. Alongside favourites such as poppadoms, samosas and chicken tikka, you’ll find some exciting new offerings. Particularly delicious are the succulent nihari lamb, a special dish featuring lamb shank cooked in a flavoursome traditional sauce, served with ginger matchsticks, chilli and lemon. The team also serves delicious tawa sharing platters: Traditional skillets packed with the likes of chicken wings, lamb chops, flatbreads and more. Thali is served from Monday to Friday between 11.30am and 2.30pm. To ensure that everybody is catered for, there’s always a range of tasty vegan and gluten-free options available. Serving small plates in this way introduces an exciting new way to enjoy Indian food, allowing diners to sample a variety of delicious dishes as well as larger plates. With friendly staff, flavoursome food and a welcoming atmosphere, Roti is definitely worth a visit.
