The Riccarton Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

198 Lanark Road West, Currie, EH14 5NX

The Riccarton Inn is conveniently located on a bus route and has ample parking in the rear, so getting to this splendid gastropub is as easy as can be. Once there, why not make the inn your base, and stay the night in one of the five rooms available - spend the day exploring the countryside before returning for a hearty meal.
As we entered The Riccarton Inn, my wife and I were shown to a cosy booth and presented with a comprehensive drinks menu, which featured a selection of wines spanning the globe and a tempting range of cocktails, too. After the friendly waitress took our drinks order, we moved on to our starters; my wife selected seared king prawns accompanied by chorizo and sundried tomatoes, while I enjoyed a delicious serving of Cullen Skink - smoked haddock and leeks, accompanied by a potato and cream chowder. The main course promptly followed. I tucked into a fillet of monkfish tail, paired with dill and butter mash, and served on a bed of Savoy cabbage. Everything was delicious. My wife was drawn to the sirloin steak; a succulent cut of meat cooked to her liking and well-matched with homemade dripping chips and moreish caramelised shallot and fennel relish. For dessert, my wife had the raspberry and hazelnut Eton Mess, which was so tasty that I couldn't resist stealing a spoonful or two. Those bringing little ones will no doubt be impressed with the children's menu, which is comprehensive and very reasonably priced
