The Clouds & Soil bar and restaurant is an exciting new project from the owners of Bond No 9 in Leith. Launched in May 2014, Clouds & Soil can be found in a five-storey townhouse in central Edinburgh, which has been transformed into a cool, contemporary, multi-purpose space spread across several floors. The venue comes complete with its own sophisticated cocktail and wine bar, a table-service à la carte restaurant, several event spaces and a host of interestingly themed rooms, including The Hendricks Room and The Compass Room. The first-floor restaurant and bar boast scenic views across Carlton Hill, and the decor is sleek, stylish and individual. There is a robust bar menu featuring 'carnivore' and 'herbivore' platters, alongside traditional favourites like rib-eye steak, beer-battered haddock and chips, and a homemade Scottish beef burger. There is also a diverse à la carte menu to choose from, plus an affordable pre-theatre menu served from 4pm until 6pm every day. Just like at Bond No 9, the drinks at Clouds & Soil are a big part of the appeal. The inventive cocktail menu is regularly updated with new creations by the expert mixologists behind the bar, and includes concoctions such as the Clouds & Soil Special: Zacapa rum with Talisker whisky, Amontillado sherry and Velvet Falernum
