One visit is all it takes for Ahmed's Barbecue Delights to become a favourite amongst Indian food lovers. With a loyal customer base, Ahmed's presents an excellent alternative to the hustle and bustle of dining out in the centre of town.
On entering the restaurant, diners are met with the superb visual of freshly prepared starters, snacks, and vegetarian dishes accompanied by a wonderfully seasoned aroma. The decor is a modern take on the conventional South Asian eatery, with one wall boasting a contemporary mural of the Taj Mahal. Seating is available near the window or, alternatively, diners can relax in one of the booths. The simplicity of the environment allows you to focus on what is truly special about Ahmed's - its exceptionally flavoursome cuisine.
The menu offers an array of Pakistani and Punjabi dishes, created using a wide range of fresh herbs and spices characteristic of authentic Indian food. Barbecue food is extremely popular in the Punjab region of Pakistan, and Ahmed's recreates authentic dishes using their tandoor oven and charcoal grill. All meat used at Ahmed's is exclusively halal, as certified by the Halal Monitoring Committee, and great vegetarian options are available too. My guest and I went for the fish pakora and samosas to start. The fish was hake - with a more delicate flavour than cod and sensational seasoning shining through perfectly. For our main course we sampled dishes in all areas of the menu, from barbecue chicken and mixed grill items, to vegetable karahi, peshwari naan, and pilau rice. The generous portions meant that the table was covered in a fantastic mini banquet, and we were impressed with the flavours it provided.
For even the most modest budgets, Ahmed's is exceptionally reasonable in price, with a meal for two - comprising starters, mains and desserts - costing an average of £25. They even cater for parties and also provide outside catering for special events at very competitive prices. So, if you fancy great food without the hassle of town and a huge bill, give the unforgettable Ahmed's a visit
