The Spade Oak
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

With Enid Blyton's fairytale house next door, the Midsomer Murders trail all around, and plenty of golf courses in the vicinity, there are plenty of exciting ways to work up an appetite before paying a visit to The Spade Oak. This traditional British pub serves an array of wholesome fare, perfect enjoyed either by the warmth of a crackling log fire or beneath the sun in the lovely beer garden. Ordering may prove difficult as there is so much choice, but the slow-cooked pork belly with a sticky Crabbie's alcoholic ginger beer glaze is a more than safe bet for starters. For a hearty main course, indulge in pulled British beef and bacon pie with orange-and-cardamom-infused carrots and roasted shallot and pea mashed potatoes; alternatively, try the light Super Green Salad with soya and broad beans, feta, fresh peas, roasted pepper, pumpkin seeds and a minted yoghurt dressing. The varied kids' menu is sure to please, whilst grown-ups can treat themselves to something from the range of Cask Marque-accredited ales and fine wines. The Spade Oak delivers all you could want from a village pub and restaurant. Whether you arrive by foot, car, bike or boat, you are sure to leave safe in the knowledge you have found a new favourite haunt.
