A slice of English history and the creations from a contemporary kitchen, await in the heart of Royston – this small market town is home to The Old Bull Inn. Once a coaching inn with stabling for over 100 horses, it is now a beautifully restored hotel, bar and restaurant.

Whether dropping in for a quick snack or planning a romantic night out, The Old Bull Inn caters for all. The bar menu offers a tempting selection of snacks and main courses ranging from the humble sandwich, to hearty Yorkshire pudding filled with roast beef and served with onion gravy and fresh seasonal vegetables.

In The Bull Ring Restaurant, sit back and allow yourself to indulge in threecourses of fine food. I followed my delectable smoked cheddar and caramalised shallot tartlet, with tender pan-fried tuna steak mounted on braised vegetables in a rich tomato sauce.

With the rarely-seen baked Alaska to finish, and faultless service throughout, our meal was declared a triumph and an experience soon to be repeated.

With an impressive selection of conferencing and banqueting facilities, whatever the occasion, The Old Bull Inn gets full marks.
