The historic Stonehouse Peninsula in Plymouth is mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086; tucked away in one of its quiet side street is the not quite so old but well-established Trattoria Pescatore, a delightful family-run restaurant specialising in fresh fish and Italian food.
The excellent menu includes starters such as fresh seared scallops with crispy pancetta, and deep-fried tempura prawns with fresh mango, ginger, chilli and mint coulis.

Among the succulent fish dishes often on the specials board are wild sea bass served with a tapanade of olives, and halibut with mango and banana. Also on the menu are tender fillet steaks; my personal favourite is Filleto Dolcelatte with a creamy blue cheese sauce.

There is also a selection of delicious veal and chicken dishes and of course traditional pastas. There is an excellent wine list to suit every palate and a selection of scrumptious home-made desserts.

The Trattoria prides itself on providing what it sees as the essence of a good restaurant: great food and wine in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
