For over 20 years Platters Restaurant in Plymouth has been netting diners from all over with its tempting array of sumptuous seafood. Platters only source the finest fish, fresh from Plymouth’s historic Barbican every morning, and then serve it up, perfectly prepared.

The low-beamed ceiling, wooden floors and bench seating create a ship-like feel, the sound of the sea further adding to the illusion. The layout and mood makes Platters the perfect place for an informal party or celebration, as well as for an intimate meal or stop-off lunch when exploring the town.

The menu is a fish-lover’s dream. Starters feature all the classics: bouillabaisse, smoked salmon, scallops and a myriad of prawn and crab cocktails. Try oldfashioned Plymouth clam chowder if you fancy something warming, or for a light, fresh opening to your meal choose cold king prawns straight up. From classic battered fish and chips to the fruit de mer platter, everything the ocean has to offer has a place on the main-course menu. Neither vegetarians nor meat-lovers need feel left out though, as steak from the grill and the likes of moussaka should ensure that everyone is happy.

This is a perfect port in which to refuel, before taking to the high seas and braving the elements – or indeed the hustle and bustle of Plymouth.
