This 14th century building popular with locals and visitors alike offers traditional English fare with a modern twist.
Owners Lynn and Victor Walsh, along with chefs Ollie Booth and Ollie Richards, take pride in sourcing as many ingredients as possible from local suppliers; for example the varied selection of fresh fish is from the fish market on the Barbican in Plymouth.

The modern influences are reflected throughout the menu and the ever-changing daily specials board offers all customers the chance to sample fresh food from Devon and the surrounding counties.

For example on the starter menu was a large bowl of steaming mussels at £5.95 and a salad of Dartmouth oak-smoked chicken at £5.25. Main courses start at £8.50 with locally caught battered fish with chunky chips and home-made mushy peas, or the ever popular char-grilled sirloin steak with tomatoes, chips and peas at £11.50.

To finish your meal there is a fine selection of mouth-watering desserts or should you prefer, try the West Country Cheeseboard. House wine is available at £9.95 a bottle, of which there are three red and three white wines available; the wine list continues with over 20 others to choose from.

This 70-cover restaurant has a separate smoking area, disabled access and can cater for specific dietary requirements. The Mussel Inn has friendly staff, exquisite food and offers excellent value for money.
