I once had dinner and a boogie at the BB King Club in Memphis and I can say with my hand on my heart that Blues Bar & Grill took me right back there. The dark wood panelling and music posters set this venue apart from the usual themed tourist ventures, and on this particular wet Wednesday in March the lively joint was jumping with locals.
The menu is authentically American; big on burgers, ribs and steaks, but there are also lighter dishes, prepared using locally caught fish. We had already decided that we weRenét going to be in 'girly diet mode' and ordered fried calamari with garlic mayo dip (£5.50) and crab cakes with sweet chilli sauce (£5.95) - both were delicious. With my main course of 8oz sirloin steak (£12.95), I had a Jack Daniels and pepper sauce (£1.95) which was perfect for dipping fries and spicy Cajun onion rings (£2.25) into. My dining partner was slightly more restrained and went for the seafood chowder (£8.95), packed with fresh fish, potatoes and bacon, and served with lovely bread. We were finished off completely by our dessert of Banoffee Skyscraper (£4.95); no description can do it justice - even the name sets your mouth watering.
If you love your live music then Blues Bar & Grill is the place for you - and with at least five live music events happening every week, you'll be spoilt for choice. Eat upstairs in the restaurant or downstairs in the bar; either way you'll love this buzzing venue with its friendly, slick service. Blues Bar & Grill is perfect for enjoying great food, good booze and rocking live blues.
