Smith & Western brings a little piece of the Wild West to Surrey with two fantastic American-themed family restaurants in Box Hill and Blindley Heath.
Box Hill itself is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with woodland and chalk downland, and has long been a famous destination for day-trippers from London. It has much to offer the rambler and naturalist, with many picturesque walks and views. Smith & Western at Blindley Heath is situated on the Eastbourne Road in a beautiful building dating back to the 16th Century, with an impressive conservatory and garden area to enjoy in the sunshine.
Walking through the doors of any Smith & Western, the authentic Wild West decor and walls adorned with memorabilia will make you feel like you have stepped back in time and across the pond. Both restaurants have a jail area, so make sure you don’t step out of line or the town sheriff may lock you up.
Kids love the ‘buckaroo’ menu, which includes a main meal, drink and dessert all for £6.95, and a puzzle book keeps them tied up so the grown-up folk can relax and enjoy their own whip-crackin’ time. There is an extensive list of blended cocktails, plus wines and beers to accompany the tastiest of appetisers. Begin with an impressively generous plate of nachos, topped with sour cream, chilli, guacamole and salsa, smothered with melted cheese. To follow, they serve the best finger lickin’ ribs, steaks, homemade burgers and fajitas – to mention just a few of the classic American dishes you will find on the extensive menu. At lunchtime the ‘boot scootin’ lunch menu may interest those who are looking for a lighter dish, with a lunchtime meal bonanza deal at £9.50, which includes a choice of six main meals and a drink – available Monday to Friday between high-noon and 4pm (excluding Bank Holidays).
If you are looking for the perfect place for all the family, travel ‘westwards’ to the fun atmosphere and exciting tastes of the American Old West without leaving Surrey. It is advisable to make a reservation before you go, because everyone wants a little piece of this Old-American pie.
