The Black Boy at Weeley, near Clacton-on-Sea, is an attractive inn brimming with olde-worlde charm. The quaint pub, conveniently situated on the main road, offers ample parking and two good-sized restaurants with room for 60 guests. When we arrived, we were greeted by the pleasant staff, who were helpful and accommodating throughout the evening. We selected the chicken liver paté with toast and the mozzarella and tomato salad to start, and were very pleased with our choices. My scampi with gourmet chips, peas and tartare sauce and my companion’s liver and bacon with creamy mash and vegetables were beautifully prepared and piping hot, and the portions were generous to say the least. My Eton Mess dessert was delightfully rich, while the indulgent Baileys cheesecake was devoured with relish by my fellow diner. With delicious food at reasonable prices, I’d highly recommend a visit to The Black Boy.
