This is quite possibly Nottingham's most unique destination for fabulous dining. The Brasserie and Pump Room is set within the Lakeside - a venue featuring an exclusive state-of-the-art health club and catering for corporate and private events within its listed main building, beautiful gardens and around the historic lake. Achieving listed status and totally renovated in 1996, this once neglected site was restored to its former glory and reopened as an exciting leisure venue. The restaurant and bar can be found in the main building's great hall, boasting stunning views. Take a seat on the mezzanine floor, with the bar below, and select from the menu of modern European delights. Nibble on olives before tucking into a starter of baked whole sardine with leaves and a tomato and caper salsa, and continue with the venison pie, containing saddle of venison marinated in orange, thyme, garlic and red wine, served with sauté of chicken livers, bacon and shallots in a puff pastry case - wholesome and delicious.
