As of January 2014, David Kennedy’s Food Social will have completed its long term goal of becoming fully incorporated into The Biscuit Factory family. The new restaurant – Artisan @ The Biscuit Factory – will look a little different, but the team and the ethos behind the popular Food Social will remain the same. Artisan will serve good, honest food, using fresh, local and seasonal produce.
Artisan @ The Biscuit Factory is headed up by award-winning chef (and columnist for The Journal) Andrew Wilkinson. Andrew, who trained under one of the North East’s top chefs before going on to become the region’s youngest ‘Chef of the Year’, has this to say on Artisan: ‘I was born and raised in the North East and have always been very proud of the produce that is available on our doorstep; however our growers, butchers, mongers and foragers have a knack for not only surprising me but challenging me to produce dishes that are both a joy to eat and do justice to the raw ingredients. Alongside the facelift to the restaurant planned for the New Year, myself and the team are working on some exciting new ideas and some potential dates for your diary – so watch this space.’
The Biscuit Factory provides the perfect venue for Artisan, being one of the most sought-after art galleries in both Newcastle and the North East. The restaurant prides itself on using only the freshest ingredients for its ever changing menus. Guests can enjoy fresh seafood, locally reared meats, the most delicious fruits and vegetables, and recipes fit for the finest dining establishments. This North East restaurant will continue to be a regional favourite. It is the ideal place to relax with your significant other, bring your family for some together-time, or simply enjoy a light snack with friends. Overall, what Artisan offers is British fine dining with a modern European twist, set within a sophisticated yet entirely unstuffy ambience. Artisan @ The Biscuit Factory is a must for all Tyneside gastronomes.
