Situated on the A4, halfway between London and Bristol, and just six miles from Newbury and Hungerford, the Halfway has provided rest and good food for travellers for over 100 years. A refurbishment in 2006 has given the Halfway a fresh modern feel without losing the warmth and comfort of those early days. The restaurant is the perfect setting to enjoy great food and wine, and the bar is excellent for an informal meal, or just a quiet drink by the log fire. It is also host to a popular Sunday night quiz. The Halfway serves a variety of home-cooked meals from warm ciabattas, jacket potatoes and salads at lunchtimes, to a regularly changing menu and seasonal specials boards with local ingredients aplenty, finished with a selection of traditional home-made desserts. Sunday Lunch is a family occasion ' the restaurant is perfect for large groups, with all tastes catered for. In the summer you may prefer to sit in the walled garden. Anyone looking for a quick business lunch can phone their order ahead, and car parking is plentiful. The friendly team led by Kirsten, Vicki and Phil are dedicated to making sure you have a great time, so whatever your reason for choosing the Halfway, you will enjoy your visit.
