Make a trip into the rural South West countryside and you’ll be pleased to happen upon N°6 Restaurant. During daylight hours this is a popular café offering breakfasts, lunchtime treats, teas, coffees, cakes and a wide range of gluten-free specialities – then, when night falls, it transforms into a comfortable brasserie. The melodic sound of live jazz emanating from N°6 drew us inside, where we settled down to enjoy starters of pork, prosciutto and chorizo terrine and a duo of salmon fishcakes with freshly made tartare sauce. This was followed by chilli-crusted rump of lamb with harissa mash and spiced redcurrant jus, and sweet tomato-tossed tagliatelle with goat’s cheese crumbs. N°6 prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients, including tasty Blue Vinney and Midway Farm produce. With three courses available from just £17.95 most lunchtimes and Wednesday and Thursday evenings, N°6 is well worth a visit.
