In an enviable location just off Oxford Street, an exceptional pan-Asian restaurant is to be found serving the finest of contemporary cuisine. Upon entering, my attention was immediately captured by the artistic decor. White ceilings combined with wooden walls and stark black triangular panels made for a very modern, Art Deco-style interior.
Promptly seated and served, my guest and I chose a combination of dishes with the help of our attentive, impressively knowledgeable and very helpful waitress, who was more than happy to offer suggestions. If I were to single out one of the delicious dishes for particular mention from our selection of starters, it would have to be the tiger prawn kataifi, with sweet chilli and jalapeno, although the dragon eel and avocado uramaki, and the confit duck salad were also especially gorgeous and combined a fantastic selection of ingredients and flavours. Our main course was the specially recommended sea bass fillet with kimchi sauce. The fish was incredibly tender, with the rich marinade complementing the delicate aromas of the sea bass perfectly.
With sublime ingredients, magnificently exotic dishes, an elegant interior and wonderful service, Cocochan is a shining example of all that a top-notch pan-Asian restaurant should be.
