Housed in an attractive 300-year-old coaching inn, The Red Lion is every bit as picturesque as the countryside surrounding it. The pub still retains its olde-worlde charm – the original beams and fireplaces are very much intact, and the recent refurbishment is in keeping with the traditional features. The menu features fresh, home-cooked favourites – the beer-battered cod is a must-try. There’s also an unmissable mussels night every Tuesday evening and a fantastic steak night every Thursday, which offers a free bottle of house wine with every two steaks ordered. Make sure you sample a tipple or two from the rum shelf, boasting over 20 varieties from around the world. Three quality cask ales are also always on offer – perhaps take yours outside to enjoy in the lovely garden during the summer. Owners Jon and Sue offer a warm welcome to guests old and new, ensuring they return time and again.
