When Sergio Stefanuto opened his first restaurant in 1971, he couldn’t have imagined how successful he would become. Now, over 35 years later, he has a grand total of seven restaurants under his watchful eye and is known throughout the North West as one of the leading lights in Italian cuisine.
The first San Rocco, located in central Manchester, takes its influences from the north of Italy. ‘My aim has been to build a solid, respected reputation, based on certain principles,’ says Sergio. ‘I wanted to offer good, authentic Italian food served by welcoming and efficient staff at competitive prices, in very pleasant surroundings.’ He certainly achieves this goal here – this modern restaurant is delightful and more than complemented by the innovative menu that delights regular customers and newcomers alike.
The Cheetham Village restaurant has an elegant bar and spacious restaurant, with magnificent arched windows and a beautiful wooden floor. The menu includes a large variety of fish and pizzas, all served by friendly and enthusiastic staff.
San Rocco Hale is the newest addition to the family. This modern bar and restaurant set in Hale Village offers authentic Italian cuisine with a great atmosphere.
Bellavista is a unique restaurant, bar and function room complex, situated in the Lancashire countryside with glorious views over the Pennines. There is a welcoming light and airy bar, where you can drop in for an aperitif before wandering up to the à la carte restaurant, or keep it casual in the pizzeria – the choice is yours.
The Millstone restaurant is situated next to Rivington reservoir in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It was once a public house but has now been transformed into a restaurant and bar serving excellent contemporary food.
San Rocco Ashton is located in Ashton’s Stamford Square. This restaurant has everything you could wish for, with a large menu giving diners the choice of something light or more indulgent, while also providing a relaxing environment in which to enjoy it.
Finally, The Wine Press is a newly refurbished bar, restaurant and function room with stunning views over Hollingworth Lake. In a departure from the Italian theme, The Wine Press serves a mix of traditional and modern dishes with an English emphasis.
With this array of enticing restaurants on its doorstep, the North West is well equipped to offer tempting Italian cuisine for many years to come. Thank goodness for Sergio.
