As a football club, Manchester United needs no introduction - through huge success at home and abroad, it has secured a position as one of the world's most famous. Its Old Trafford home, the largest club facility in the UK, is equally famous. It was Sir Bobby Charlton who dubbed it 'The Theatre of Dreams', and there can be few better descriptions of the iconic home of the Reds. Old Trafford has been the focus of millions of football fans from all over the globe for almost a century, and situated deep within the heart of the magnificent North Stand is the exclusive Red Café.
Located on level three of the North Stand, next to the Manchester United Museum and Tour Centre, this Café is the ultimate haunt for every football fan. Upon entrance, it is immediately clear that you are at the home of the winners of the 2007/08 Premiership and Champions League. Numerous plasma screens showing live sport updates decorate the walls, along with historical and modern Manchester United imagery and memorabilia. Even the chairs in the restaurant are adorned with the names of Manchester United heroes past and present, including Solskjaer, Best, Rooney and Ronaldo.
Having been established for over ten years, the Café has recently undergone a major refurbishment and now boasts fabulous new decor and a delicious range of food and beverages. Visitors to the Café can now experience its new à la carte table service menu, or choose from a tempting range of cold platters at the self-service buffet. The à la carte and buffet menus are packed with options ranging from light meals and pasta dishes to traditional fish and chips.
For those who have a little less time to dine, the fabulous new counter service option is the perfect solution. This welcome addition to the Café offers a range of freshly grilled paninis and other snacks and pastries, all of which can be enjoyed in the new warm, relaxing and comfortable lounge area. Alternatively, visitors can kick back with their favourite coffee, made with freshly ground beans, or sip on their preferred choice of tea. The Red Café is also a popular venue for children, catering for all ages and providing a children's menu offering plenty of delicious choices and great value too. Red Café birthday parties are also a big hit.
Young or old, United fan or not, a visit to the Red Café is truly a day to remember - it's not every day you get to experience Café dining within one of the world's greatest football stadiums. Food & Drink Manchester Guide 2008 23 Grill
