Hosting comedy nights on a Sunday and serving fresh fish on a Friday, Yots Bar and Bistro offers fun and superb food in a stunning location. With floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the bistro looks out onto the marina and is full of light reflected from the tranquil waters. Peaceful and relaxed, with clean, fresh decor, Yots is the perfect place to unwind, either sitting out on the waterfront or sinking into the comfy armchairs inside.
The open kitchen creates confidence in the chef who provides quite a show demonstrating his expert culinary skills. His menu is understated yet clearly refined; traditional meals are presented with panache and taste sensational.
To start, the chorizo, vine tomato and rocket tart provides a perfect blend of flavours and textures – a dish more than worthy of its humble £5.25 price tag. The Greek salad with feta cheese and olives is crisp and fresh, and the accompanying bread is a nice fragrant touch. The chicken supreme with a white wine risotto and Stilton sauce is simply divine – smooth, creamy and flavoursome, the risotto melts in the mouth. The sirloin steak served with home cut chips – a traditional meal which holds its own alongside the chicken supreme – was cooked to perfection, flavourful and worthy of the title, ‘British classic.’ For dessert, the sticky toffee pudding is light and fluffy and, once again, presented with exceptional skill. The chocolate pudding combines rich and warm comfort with the bite of cold ice cream and should be enjoyed languidly.
I urge you to visit the hidden gem that is Yots Bar and Bistro. Visit on a summer’s evening and experience its modern charm – words can’t quite do it justice.
