Serving exquisite Indian cuisine from within an elegant venue, this restaurant is something special. With a relaxed atmosphere and a contemporary approach, Agoon Pani is a welcome addition to the Leith foodie scene.
Agoon Pani is run by the Hossain family, who have 25 years experience and scoured the entire Subcontinent for favoured recipes before returning to Scotland to put them to the test. While the extensive menu might be a little mystifying for those who don’t know their baygooni from their majadaar, Ramiz and his team will happily guide those who wish to stray from the well-known jalfrezi and madras staples through the food menu on a true culinary adventure. If the depth of fire and flavour in a north Indian dish comprising garlic, chilli and chicken, or the more subtle coriander and fenugreek-infused charms of the lamb in the saag daal gosht are anything to go by, those manning the saucepans are more than capable of turning their hands to the huge range of dishes on offer. Out front, the waiters efficiently provide faultless service with a smile.
In addition to the excellent cuisine and impeccable service, a visit to Agoon Pani is made complete by beautifully set tables, striking chandeliers, and the grand windows which provide wonderful views across the Water of Leith.
