Following on from their success at the head of The Joiners Arms, husband-and-wife team Stephen and Tracy Fitzpatrick have launched The Boot Room. Formerly a shoe factory and occupying the old Stones Restaurant, The Boot Room is one of the latest additions to the Leicester restaurant circuit; and this new modern British eatery has quickly cemented its place as part of the city’s impressive dining-out scene. Still possessing c h a rming touches hinting at the building’s industrial past, the restaurant serves simple yet t ruly special food made with fresh, quality seasonal ingredients, served in a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere.
Chef Stephen is no stranger to the kitchen, having been cooking since 1982 at various hotel kitchens in the Cotswolds and accumulating several prestigious awards in the process. He attributes his success to a simple cooking philosophy of buying quality ingredients, treating them simply and letting the customer enjoy the experience. This refreshing principle is evident in The Boot Room’s sophisticated yet modest menu, which contains lighter lunch offerings like a lamb and coriander burger with cucumber and mint creme fraiche, or chorizo and potato frittata. It’s the ideal environment to impress clients or treat friends – there are lovely light bites such as fish cakes with chilli mayonnaise, plum tomato and shallot salad, or braised beef and onions with parsley mash. With two courses for £10.95 and three for £13.95, lunch need not be an extravagant affair to be enjoyable at The Boot Room.
The à la carte menu offers up sumptuous starters such as chicken liver parfait with brioche and chutney, and king scallops with Clonakilty black pudding and garlic mash. A magnificent main of Cornish pollock with asparagus is brought to life by a broad bean and mustard grain sauce, and sea bass is complemented by the flavours of pak choi, scallions, crab wonton and sweet chilli sauce. If you’ve still got room, you can top it all off with tasty desserts like raspberry and crushed banana pavlova, or perhaps a hearty helping of orange creme brulée. There are so many fantastic dishes on The Boot Room’s traditional yet contemporary British menu that need to be tried and tasted – after one meal you’ll be itching to come back for more.
The Boot Room also specialises in catering for seasonal events and celebrations; for example, whatever your plans are this Christmas, you’d be a fool not to squeeze in a date at The Boot Room. They can cater from an intimate meal for two, or even provide fine dining for less intimate groups of up to 80. Don’t delay a moment longer – head over to The Boot Room for some delicious flavours and a fantastic atmosphere. As this place is set to quickly become the favourite haunt of many, you can boast that you knew all about it from the very start.
