On a gorgeous sunny day, there’s nowhere better to stop for refreshment than The Seapot in Wheeler’s Bay. Opened by a local brother-and-sister team in 2014, this spot has been transformed into an open-air two-deck café with spectacular views across the bay. Seafood that’s as fresh as can be (the crab, for example, is caught in Wheeler’s Bay) is served alongside hearty sandwiches and boards laden with charcuterie and sundried Mediterranean vegetables. Take our advice and try the fisherman’s board, with jarred crab, salmon paté, fresh prawns and crusty bread. You can stop by for drinks, too. The fully licensed café serves hand-picked wines, spirits and Pimm’s (speaking of which, their Pimm’s sponge cake is amazing). Sitting half way between Ventnor and Bonchurch, this gem is a little off the beaten track but worth seeking out. Follow The Seapot on Facebook (www.facebook.com/seapotcafe) and Twitter (@seapot).
