You will be hard pushed to find a better place to rest your head, fill your stomach and relax your mind than The Fox Country Inn. Nestled amongst the rolling Chiltern Hills - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - and surrounded by beautiful woodland and countryside, this is the perfect place to explore the local area, whether on foot, bike or horseback. Keep your eyes peeled for the chance to spy the resident rare Red Kite population, along with the deer, foxes and badgers that live among the beautiful wild plants and flowers.

After all that exploration, pull up a pew at The Fox's relaxed and friendly bar. Furnished in traditional, olde-English country style, it offers the perfect place to tuck yourself in a secluded corner, pint in hand, or wander around the stunning gardens and patio area. If you're feeling peckish, the informal bar menu offers a fantastic 'grazing platter' of Continental meats, green olives, mixed leaves, warm bread, balsamic vinegar and olive oil, along with olde-English fish pie, stuffed peppers Ricardo, or chef's special portobello steak pie. The Fox chefs are passionate about their fare, constantly changing their menus to reflect local and seasonal produce. The restaurant card, for example, offers separate à la carte and Thai menus, perfect for satisfying each and every tastebud in your party. Dishes from the latter include pad Thai sen lek noodles and green Thai chicken curry, while the former offers duck in black cherry sauce, sirloin steak and lamb with tamarind sauce, gratin potatoes and vegetables.

The charming restaurant area is characterised by exposed wooden beams, an old chimney breast, Windsor chairs, alcoves, window seats and soft furnishings. It's all clean lines, crisp white linen and minimal chic decor here. A range of local and international beers will complement your cuisine, although if you are staying in one of The Fox's recently refurbished bedrooms (clearly designed with style and elegance in mind), then what better excuse to sample the inn's extensive wine cellar...
