The Malthouse is a licensed family-run tearoom and bistro located in the historical village of Herstmonceux. The restaurant can accommodate up to 35 people and boasts comfortable sofas as well as a beautiful garden in which to enjoy the sunshine.

The Malthouse is open for morning coffee and afternoon tea - with homemade cakes and scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream - as well as light lunches and snacks; there is also a daily specials board offering fresh homemade dishes. Daily specials range from bacon pudding, lamb's liver and bacon, to white tuna and chilli pasta, and pancetta and chestnut risotto. The excellent bistro is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 7pm. A changing weekly menu allows for fresh and local ingredients to be used as much as possible. All of the dishes are freshly cooked and the desserts are homemade. The Malthouse is also open every Sunday for lunch, offering a British roast as well as the regular homemade menu. In addition to great food, the bistro offers excellent value for money, with a three-course Sunday lunch priced at just £13.95.

Why not visit for one of the special Thursday evenings that are held each month? Previous nights include pie night, sausage and mash night and a Great British dishes night, all offered at £11.95 for two courses. Give The Malthouse a call, or pop in for more information and sample menus.
