With uninterrupted views of historic Hampton Court, the four-star Carlton Mitre Hotel boasts a glorious location on the banks of the River Thames. The hotel’s Riverside Brasserie is literally on the waterfront and, with three beautiful sun terraces to choose from, it’s the perfect location to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining.
The Brasserie is surprisingly intimate despite its size. The bar offers a range of wines from around the world and for all budgets, and there is also a broad selection of draught and bottled beers. The menu includes dishes to please a range of palates, from simple pasta to fresh oysters, from the comforting to the refined. Prettily presented scallops are given a real kick thanks to pancetta, and the mouth-watering butternut squash soup is a real winter warmer. For the main event, the Mitre burger with bacon, mushrooms, cheese and chorizo is a succulent crowd-pleaser with a luxurious twist. Alternatively, try the tender Tuscan chicken breast with lightly pan-fried courgettes and delicious home-baked bread. The Brasserie’s ice cream is a revelation – white chocolate served with maple plum crumble was so light that it almost resembled chocolate mousse. The crumble itself was warm, sweet and melted in the mouth.
Effortlessly relaxed and comfortable, The Riverside Brasserie is the perfect venue – whether you come purely for the food or for the views and inviting ambience, there’s something to enjoy, come rain or shine.
