Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Guildford city centre, The King's Head is a welcome retreat for those searching for that elusive entity - the perfect pub and restaurant. The restaurant couples the warmth and charm of a local hostelry with a well-crafted menu of honest hearty food, as well as light lunch dishes and irresistible desserts. Favourites among locals and visitors alike include the hearty Fuller's ESB steak and mushroom pie with mash and vegetables, and the prime rump steak we enjoyed was cooked exactly to our requirements and represents a staple of the evolving menu.

Be sure to arrive early if you're keen to sample something from the constantly changing specials board, as they will invariably get snapped up very quickly. If visiting on a Wednesday night then you are in for a treat; curry night features a selection of homemade curries served with naan bread and rice - upgrade your meal to include poppadoms and mango chutney for a small extra charge. In addition to the superb restaurant, The King's Head also features a saloon bar, which plays host to live music on Saturday nights and a weekly quiz on Thursdays. Outside, a patio with heaters allows you to enjoy alfresco dining even in the cooler autumn months, and the award-winning floral displays - The King's Head won Guildford in Bloom's 'Best Pub in Bloom' and 'Best in Competition' - add to the charm of this lovely pub.
