Built around 150 years ago on the site of the former Running Horse public house, The Drummond Arms Inn forms part of the impressive Albury Estate, owned by the Duke of Northumberland. The village of Albury is charming, and this inn only adds to its appeal. The Drummond's extensive garden rests on the bank of the River Tillingbourne and is frequented by the local wild ducks and trout in the clear running river. Inside, a warm ambience is created by a comforting open log fireplace and a cosy conservatory restaurant.

The daily changing menu is packed with English country fare and locally sourced produce. Determined not to succumb to the modern 'gastropub' label, this seriously food-led outlet regularly serves up a mouthwatering 'Drummond classics' selection - steak and kidney pudding, beer-battered fish and chips and Cumberland sausages with mash and onion gravy to name but a few. Add to this a wide selection of starters and an extensive homemade dessert menu - including a heavenly hot chocolate fondant - and you'll begin to understand why regulars keep on coming back.

The Drummond also boasts a weekend barbecue, providing old-fashioned hog or lamb on a charcoal spit roast, and a good selection of local ales along with a very well-thought-out wine list. There is a function room that can take up to 50 guests and nine recently refurbished en-suite bedrooms.

This is what English pubs are supposed to be - quaint, personal and traditional.
