Conchitas Mexican Restaurant

Conchitas is situated in the popular west side of town, offering freshly cooked, beautifully presented Mexican dishes. All food is cooked to order right in front of you in the theatre of an open kitchen. The modern, eclectic decor hints as to the sort of food you can expect - there are guitars and sombreros dotted about and the colour scheme is distinctly sunny. Background flamenco music completes the illusion.

A dish of olives in garlic and oil set us up while we decided on what to order. My starter of roasted pork ribs in a smoked barbecue honey sauce was superb - the meat just fell off the bone. My wife's Mexican salsa dips and tortilla chips were equally good - the salsa radiating a certain heat that gave the whole dish an authentic kick. The range of fajitas looked too good to resist, so for my main I chose the fillet steak strips, which were served sizzling on an iron skillet with onions and peppers, along with a selection of dips. The meal was delicious and being able to get stuck in and make my own wraps only made the experience more enjoyable. My wife opted for the chicken enchiladas - tortilla pancakes, shredded cheese and salsa, served with Mexican rice, salad, guacamole and sour cream. If you can manage it, try one of the rich desserts - double chocolate gateau, strawberry cheesecake and ice cream are all available, along with a selection of seasonal treats. Our meal finished with a fantastic espresso coffee - a perfect end to a perfect meal.

Do not miss out on the specials board, as it features a whole host of other exciting dishes, or indeed the drinks list, which hosts a selection of international wine and beers.

The restaurant can also be hired out for private parties and celebrations, so celebrate the Mexican way at Conchitas - a restaurant that other Mexican eateries should strive to be like.
